Gada Special Economic Zone has officially launched Lume Free Trade Zone

May 10-2024- Gada Special Economic Zone has officially launched Lume Free Trade Zone. Gada Special Economic Zone has officially launched Lume Free Trade Zone in the presence of H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, H.E Mr. Shimelis Abdisa, President of the Oromia National Regional State and ministers, cabinet of the Oromia Regional State, Oromo Elders and Hadha Sinqe, entrepreneurs and other guests.

Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed emphasized that although Ethiopia has historically relied heavily on agriculture rather than industry; initiatives such as the Special Economic Zone signify a shift towards industrial development. He highlighted the importance of embracing new ideas to bolster the economy and expedite the transformation of Ethiopia’s economic landscape.

H.E. Mr. Shimelis Abdisa, President Oromia National Regional State, in his remarks, highlighted the economic significance of the Gada Special Economic Zone (GSEZ). He emphasized that the GSEZ is poised to attract both international and domestic investment, boost exports, reduce dependency on imports, and foster the development of high-tech industries, thus playing a pivotal role in Ethiopia’s industrial strategy. With its emphasis on advanced manufacturing, technology, and sustainability, the zone is anticipated to serve as a model for special economic zones throughout Africa.”

The General Director of Gada Special Economic Zone, Hon. Mr. Motuma Temesgen Desisa said, “When we officially launch the GSEZ, Lume Free Trade Zone today, the zone is a place for economic growth, innovation, and a place where world-class business partnerships flourish.” “The zone will serve as a catalyst in attracting investors, promoting free trade zones and creating ample job opportunities,”

Mr. Motuma Temesgen, the General Director of the Gada Special Economic Zone, expressed that with the official launch of the GSEZ, Lume Free Trade Zone, the area becomes a hub for economic expansion, innovation, and the fostering of global business collaborations. He emphasized that the zone will play a pivotal role in drawing investors, fostering the development of free trade zones, and generating numerous job opportunities.
